599,425. Spring frames for motor-cycles, &c. DAVIS, J. G., and BELLISS, R. A. Aug. 7, 1944, No. 35903/46. Divided out of 599,375. [Class 136 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A mounting for a shock-absorber of the telescopic tube type for vehicles or aircraft, comprising a rod-like bearer 3 on which a sleeve 4 carried by the vehicle frame 1 and supporting a roadwheel is slidably mounted, the shock absorber unit being disposed parallel to the bearer between a lug 6 carried by the sleeve 4 and a fixed part of the frame 1. In the application to a motor cycle wheel suspension shown, the bearer 3 is rigidly secured between projecting lugs la, 1b, of the frame 1.. The shockabsorber comprises a hydraulic cylinder 7 secured to the lug 6, and a pneumatic cylinder 8 secured to the lug la and telescopically mounted in the cylinder 7. The shock absorber construction is described in Specification 599,375. The arrangement is duplicated on each side of the wheel and the respective cylinders 8 may be interconnected.
