Abstract

363,325. Pumps ; furnaces. RATEAU, L. A. J., NOBLEMAIRE, M. A. G. MARGOT-, and RATEAU, A. J. A., 10 bis, Avenue ElisÚe Reclus, Paris. June 11, 1930, No. 17932. Convention date, June 22, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 7 (ii).] Scavenging air is supplied to twostroke cycle engines by two fans c, d in parallel; one is driven by a turbine j using the engine exhaust, the other by an independent motor k or through a clutch and change speed gear from the main engine. Valves h, i are provided in the air supply pipes to prevent " pumping " between the two fans. The whole or only part of the cylinders may discharge into the turbine j, and part of the exhaust may pass direct to the atmosphere. The two fans instead of discharging to a common supply duct g may have independent supplies to different cylinders. Furnaces.-The waste gases from the furnaces of steam generator may be used in the turbine for supplying part of the air in a forced draught system, the remainder being furnished by a blower driven by steam from the generator.
