Abstract
361,313. Fuel pumps. MOULET ET CIE, M., 51, Boulevard Emile Zola, Oullins; Rhone, France. July 12, 1930, No. 21182. Convention date, March 5. [Class 102 (i).] Regulating delivery by byepasses; priming; auxiliary actuating gear.-One of the walls or a wallportion of a rotary or other pump for petrol. &c. is made movable, in order to reduce friction and to effect a byepass between the suction and discharge sides of the pump on rise of pressure. As shown, a drum 24 on a shaft 24a, revolving in an eccentric chamber 23 is provided with vanes 25, 26 pressed apart by springs. The wall 50 of the pump chamber is connected by a ball-jointed rod 47 to a sleeve 46 packed by a bellows 43 secured to the sleeve and to a flanged plate 44, which is clamped between the pump chamber and a casing 42. The interior of the bellows communicates with the discharge side of the pump through a port in the plate 50, and the discharge pressure thus tends to lift the plate against the action of a spring 51. The latter is adjustable by a sleeve 53, turned by a disc 54; and moving a nut 52, rotation of which is prevented by a stud 55. The pump is provided with inlet and discharge valves, the movement of which'is limited by stops, and the suction passage is provided with a filter. The plate 50 can be lifted, or reciprocated for priming, or auxiliary pumping, by means of a rod 56. When the pump supplies petrol to a carburetter subjected to pressure from a compressor, the compressor pressure may be supplied to the casing 42. The stuffing-box of the spindle 24a is supplied with lubricant, at a pressure greater than that of the petrol &c. pumped, by means of a passage 40 and lantern ring 33. The packing 32 is compressed by means of a nut 34 and spring 35. Rotation of the nut 34 and ring 33 is prevented by means of studs 36, 37 engaging slots. Specification 300,502, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a reciprocating pump, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), in which a section 75 of the barrel is movable against the action of a spring 80 adjustable by means of a stud 82 and disc 81. The section 75 is packed by a bellows, to the interior of which the discharge pressure is admitted through a port 75a. The section 75 can be operated by a rod 83. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
