[Class 30.] In a safety razor, the blade clamping members 13, 26 are reversely curved so as to bend the blade 24 to different cutting angles, yielding a coarse or a fine shave. The blade-holding head has a pivotal connection about the pin 14 with the handle 10 and may occupy any of four positions thereon, one, the normal position, Fig. 2 ; two positions with the holder inclined about the pin at 45‹ to the handle on either side thereof ; and an aligned position, Fig. 6. The holder is brought into the latter position by unscrewing the complete handle a quarter turn in the clamping plate and then pivoting it about the pin 14. This slackens the clamping members and causes the blade to have an equal cutting angle at each edge. The pivot pin 14 is carried in the bifurcated end of the handle 10 and has pivoted to it a connecting member 12 in which the blade clamping screw 20 is fixed by a pin 21. There is a friction reducing washer 12b between the connecting member and the guard plate. The connecting member has locating surfaces 15, 16 engaged by a pin 17 screwed in the hollow handle to retain the blade holder in the adjusted position. In the aligned position the handle is also secured bv the reduced end of a bladealigning pin 32 carried by the clamping plate and engaging a side recess 36 in the handle. In a modification the handle is embraced by a clip carried on the guard-plate. To prevent wrong assembly of the clamping members, one blade locating pin 32 is carried on the clamping plate and the other on the guard-plate. The clamping plate may be marked to indicate the coarse and fine cutting angles. The clamping members are hard drop forgings to resist deformation on rough handling, and the handle is longitudinally ribbed and enamelled.
