Abstract
Cobalt-tungsten alloys containing 5-50 per cent of tungsten are improved by rapidly cooling from a temperature above 1000 DEG C. and annealing at 500-900 DEG C. In an example, an alloy containing 60 per cent of cobalt is heated to 1300 DEG C., quenched and annealed for an hour at 800 DEG C. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that one or more elements such as copper, aluminium, iron, cobalt, chromium, or manganese up to a maximum of 40 per cent may be incorporated in the alloys referred to. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
