Abstract

353,617. Mine props. WHITEHOUSE, R. H., The Gables, Walsall Road, Church Bridge, near Cannock, Staffordshire. June 5, 1930, No. 17366. [Class 20 (ii).] Collapsable mine props, of the type comprising an upper sliding member mounted in a socket portion at the head of a lower prop member, has the sliding member actuated and supported by a lever 7 mounted in a transverse slot in the lower prop member, the lever being provided with a cam-shaped portion 7a to contact with the sliding member 9 of the prop. A locking sleeve 8 of frusto-conical shape is adapted to slide on the lower prop member to lock the lever in actuating position, the conical portion of the sleeve contacting with a corresponding portion on the lower prop member. In a modification, no locking sleeve is used, and the lever is longer and provided with an apertured end whereby a hauling rope may be attached for releasing the prop.
