Abstract

352,686. Seats convertible into beds. HENDERSON, A., Villa Les Myrtes, Avenue Mon Plaisir ProlongÞe, Nice, France. June 17, 1930, No. 18484. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1929. [Class 52 (ii).] The back of a seat for a vehicle is held in position by a rectangular cross-bar 14 pivoted at its upper and lower edges to links 17, 5 at each side of the seat, the lower ends of the said links being pivoted to the base framing 3 of the seat. On turning the seat back forwards the cross-bar is freed to rotate clockwise about its lower edge pivots, allowing the seat back to drop into alignment with the seat. A folding strut 25 near the bottom of the seat back acts as a fulcrum during this operation, the rear edge of the seat being lifted and counterbalancing the weight of the back during movement. The back upholstering is carried by a board slidably connected to the side links 5.
