Abstract

In the curing of synthetic resins or moulding powders consisting substantially of urea-formaldehyde condensation products, a salt of hexamethylene tetramine, such as the sulphocyanide, is added as an accelerator. Urea or thiourea may also be added to increase the acceleration. Hexamethylene tetramine and an acid, e.g. oxalic, phthalic, salicylic, or other solid acid may be added separately. The addition is preferably made while the material is being ground. Specifications 258,950 and 266,028, [both in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.ALSO:In the curing of synthetic resins or moulding powders consisting substantially of urea formaldehyde condensation products, a salt of hexamethylene tetramine, such as the sulphocyanide, is added as an accelerator. Urea or thiourea may also be added to increase the acceleration. Hexamethylene tetramine and an acid, e.g. oxalic, phthalic, salicylic or other solid acid may be added separately. The addition is preferably made while the material is being ground from 1 to 2 hours before grinding is finished. Specifications 258,950, [Class 22, Cements &c.], and 266,028, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.
