Abstract

[Class 39 (i).] Transmitter valves, short-filament amplifier valves having a filament voltage below 0À7 volts, and other high-vacuum tubes are provided with a cathode filament of the molybdenum - thorium alloy described in Specification 234,435, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc, &c.], or of other molybdenum alloy with enhanced electron emission, the filament having a diameter of at least 0À3 mm. so that the active film at the surface is continuously regenerated. No getter to absorb liberated gases is required, such gases not affecting the efficiency of the cathode and being finally occluded by the electrodes &c. Specification 255,098, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc, &c.], also is referred to.
