Abstract

Guide bushes of a valve are made from a steel known as "Nitralloy," which contains 0,2 to 1,3 per cent of carbon, 0,4 to 0,6 per cent of manganese, 0,025 per cent maximum of phosphorus, 0,025 per cent maximum of sulphur, 0,5 per cent maximum of silicon, 0,2 per cent maximum of nickel, 0,75 to 1,5 per cent of chromium, 0,15 to 0,25 per cent of molybdenum, and 0,5 to 1,25 per cent of aluminium. The external surfaces of the bushes, particularly the bases, are subjected to a nitrogenizing process.
