322,132. Henin, R. Feb. 7, 1929. Variable-speed epicyclic gearing.-In a differential transmission mechanism for cranes, &c. in which a sun pinion 2 fixed to the driving shaft 2m meshes with a pinion or pinions 2r which engage an internally and externally toothed crown 3 and in which the pinions 2r are integral with pinions 5r engaging a second toothed crown 12 keyed to the driven shaft 5k, the external teeth of the crown 3 are in the same diametral plane as the internal teeth. and engage with a spur gear driven by an auxiliary motor whose shaft 14 is parallel to the driving- shaft 2m. The crown 3 is rotatably supported in ring-shaped bearings 9 lying in annular grooves in the chown and secured to the casing 13 of the mechanism.
