Abstract

Registering webs. - In flat-platen typewriters and like machines employing a multiple-ply web, the plies 1 - - 6, Fig. 1, are guided and tensioned to ensure register by means of grating-like sets o, p of rollers mounted in stationary and movable frames m, m<1> at the rear of the platen, the movable frame being connected to springs t which normally cause the rollers p to tension the plies, and being connected also to the pedal for releasing the web-clamp so that on release of the clamp the frame is moved forwards to relieve the tension on the plies and permit them to be drawn forwards. The frame m may have slots d<1>, d<2> for engaging cross-rods on the framework of the machine. The frame m<1> preferably rests on the rollers o and is held down by means of pegs u, rearward movement being limited by pegs v. The frame m may be provided with a pivoted strut w for holding the frame m<1> in forward position to relieve the plies from tension. Adjustable guides x for the plies may be mounted on a cross-rod on the frame, m. The frame m may be provided with a support for the web-roll. A chain q passing over a pulley s may be employed for connecting the pedal to the frame m<1>. Specification 297,512 is referred to.
