Road, service boxes; gratings; draining- channels; kerbs.-A kerb overflow for road drainage comprises a bottomless metal box with an aperture in the vertical side nearest the roadway and a curved grid or grating presenting to the entering water a gradually increasing angle with the horizontal. The box is placed in the kerb or footway and communicates with a gully. It is provided with flanged sides and a movable solid top 4 secured to ledges 5 by turnbuckles. The aperture is formed by removing the front side of the box. The grating has bars running from side to side, or front to back, and rests on ledges 8, being hinged or movable. Its front edge is below the level of the roadway and its rear edge considerably above it. A front plate 9 level with the roadway is provided with curved grooves 9<a> to direct the water on to the grating. A guard-plate may be provided to hold up the road.
