Abstract

292,061. Jackson, H. Dec. 20, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 12, 1928]. Ironing-machines with hand-operated flat-irons. -The iron 14 is secured to a curved bracket 12, which is carried by a vertical pivot pin 11 in a sleeve 10 at the end of an arm 7. The arm 7 is secured by a vertical pivot pin 9 in the bifurcated end of an arm 1 which is secured to a rod 2 rotatably and slidably carried in a support 3. The iron is maintained raised normally by a spring 18 or weight, and is lowered to contact with a heated hollow work-support 15 by operation of a treadle 25. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), in which the iron is freely suspended from a carriage 27 that runs along rails on an arm 29 which is secured to a rod 30 slidable and rotatable in guides 31, 32 in a column 33. The iron is held normally raised by a spring 34, and is lowered by a pedal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
