339,980. Brimfield, H. E. Sept. 11, 1929. Protractors. - A segment, bearing scales, is fixed to one of a pair of radial pivoted arms, the joint carrying a point to engage the work, and the second arm being adapted to move over the segment and be set by the engagement of a screw or spring clip with holes or grooves in the segment. In the form shown, the segment A fixed to the radial arm D is supported at the other end by the arm H. The radial arm C, which may be clamped to the segment by the screw F, and the arm D carry spring points G1, G2 fixed to or slidable along the arms. In a modification, a large protractor may be made portable by making the segment hinged or detachable. According to the Provisional Specification, the protractor may have spring feet to keep it normally raised from the work and the radial arms may extend beyond the segment and carry scales.
