Abstract

Loud - speakers; magnetic instruments. - The moving coil 3 is connected to the diaphragm 2 by a pivotally mounted rod or lever 1, which may be formed integrally with a transverse spindle carried in adjustable bearings. One polepiece 8 extends into the jaws of the other 9, as shown in Fig. 3. In a modification the pole-piece 8 is circular in section, the two arms of the polepiece 9 being curved so as to form an annular gap. The conical diaphragm may be supported from an annular ring (Fig. 4, not shown) secured to the flared edge of a reflector, the space between the ring and the reflector forming an annular opening through which the reflected sound waves issue. The ring acts to some extent as a baflle, as described in Specifications 231,421 and 245,796. The Provisional Specification states that the reflector may be made of the material known under the registered Trade Mark " Fabrolite," and that the pivotal axis of the coil may be vertical. Specification 203,652 also is referred to.
