Winch actuated hoists with guided platforms. - T h e platform a of the hoist of the parent Specification is pivoted at h on a frame b movable in guides d, so that it may be held at different angles to the frame when the ship has a list, and may be tilted up when out of use. The platform is supported from the frame by ties e which may be connected to it at one of a number of spaced points e<1>. The platform may also be held in position by a wedge m, Fig. 4, driven between angle-irons i, k on the platform and frame. When the hoist is stowed on deck, the frame b may be secured to the guides d by bolts passed through'plates f, g.
