Abstract
294,366. Butter, A. J. July 13, 1927. Latches, sliding; lock. ing sliding latches; staples for locks and latches. - In a latch Jock for desks &c. the casing i has an open transverse slot k at its upper edge to receive the co-operating member carried by the lid, shown separate, Fig. 4. This comprises a rectangular eye c integral with a plate d having holes e for affixing screws and spikes f which enter the lid. The latch bolt q, guided by stop pins n, is projected into the slot k by a spring r and has a finger-piece s for withdrawing the latch in the form of a rod, knob, or handle, passing out of the front of the desk, and preferably placed so as to be concealed by the rim of the desk. The lock bolt u has a projection v adapted, when bolt u is shot by a key, to engage the left end of a recess w in the latch bolt, to lock the latch bolt against withdrawal.
