Control mechanism.-In rotary grip Bowden and like control devices, the intermediate sleeve and the outer tube or like device are formed of stamped or pressed blanks of sheet metal or other suitable material bent up into tube like form. The intermediate sleeve 21 is preferably formed with curled edges 22 providing a longitudinal guideway 23 and with partially cut through ends 37, 38 whereby it is secured upon a cycle handlebar 20 or like supporting member by split clamping collars 34, 39. The rotary grip member 29 is formed with a cam edge 30 or with a slot or recess and actuates a slidable member 24, adapted to receive the nipple 26 on the end of the Bowden &c. cable, the end 28 of the Bowden &c. casing engaging an abutment provided by the clamping collar 34. The rotary member 29 is provided with a rubber or other cover 32 and the cam shaped end may be enclosed by a short length of tubing 33, the parts being located between the clamping collars 34, 39. A ring 40, located by lugs engaging a notch in the member 29, may be graduated to indicate positions by reference to a mark on the collar 34. A spring 47, Fig. 3, located in an opening in the intermediate sleeve acts between the parts as a frictional retaining device. Secondary Bowden &c. transmission means may pass through the handle bar &c. 20, being actuated by an inverted lever or the like carried on a cylindrical boss inserted into the open end of the handle which is split and closed thereon by the clamping collar 39.
