Abstract

Fixed-chamber apparatus, controlling passage of air and gas for.-To slow-up the flow of liquid into a measuring container as the amount admitted approaches to the desired limit and to allow gas bubbles in the liquid to escape therefrom, a vent pipe 7 in the container 2 extends into the dome top 1 and is closed by a cap 22. A nipple, 24, screws into a plug 25 on the pipe, and a ring of holes 26 in the cap places the annulus between the cap and pipe into communication with the pipe interior. A float with a single hole 30 rests on the plug 25, and on a level with the gauge mark 32 is a hole 31 connecting the dome 1 with the pipe 7; as shown this hole is above, the flange in which the holes 26 are made, but it may be. below said flange opening into the annulus. As the liquid level rises on its inflow from the pump 3 the float rises and limits the escape of gas from the container.
