Abstract

287,519. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. March 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Surface and outline gauges. - Comprises an internal thread gauge provided with two feeler pieces for engaging the thread movable relatively to one another at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the bodv to be tested and in the direction of the feeling bolt of an indicator to which the movement is transmitted against the influence of a spring or equivalent. One feeler piece b is fixed to and projects laterally from a frame a while a corresponding feeler piece c is fixed to a block f bored to receive a spring d against the influence of which the block f may shift relatively to the frame a. A bolt k fixed on the bottom of the frame a passes through the block f and engages the feeler bolt i of an indicator h carried by an extension of the block f. Upon pressing the hand lever e down the pieces b, c are moved together so that a nut to be tested can be slid over the threads on them the piece c being moved to engage the nut threads when the lever is released. If the indicator has been adjusted to a standard nut, deviations from the standard are readily seen. To test intermediate diameters of thread, the feeler pieces n, p are arranged as shown in Fig. 5 and provided with heads to correspond to the intermediate diameter enclosed in a centering sleeve v corresponding to the clear diameter of the piece to be tested. In this form the block f is moved by a lever q and slow motion eccentric r. The two different shapes of feeler pieces may be arranged on the same gauge so that the same instrument may be use for both purposes.
