Two-stroke-cycle engines. - In engines wherein the piston 2 works inside the reciprocating cylinder 1, the latter acts as a pump plunger for mixture drawn into the stationary cylinder 3 through the automatic valve 6. The reciprocating cylinder has inlet ports 10 for the mixture and exhaust ports 12. The cylinder 1 and piston 3 are connected to cranks at 180‹, these cranks may be of equal or unequal throw. The compression ratio may be such that ignition occurs by the heat of compression.
