Two - stroke-cycle engines; pumps, piston.- In an engine with oppositely-moving pistons a, the pump for the scavenging air has its barrel b integral with one of the working pistons and moving over a stationary head f. The casing e of the engine forms a reservoir c for the air, the barrel moving in this reservoir with a considerable space between the casing and barrel.
