Abstract

254,076. White, A. E., (Budd Wheel Co.). May 27, 1925. Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs; hubs.- A disc wheel 16 is detachably secured to a flange 13 on the permanent hub 10 by screws 22 which have convex heads fitting perforated concave seats 20 in a rib 19 on the disc, the screw heads lying substantially flush with the adjacent surface of the disc. The screws may be hollow for lightness and are formed with non-circular sockets to receive an operating tool. A metal cap may be fitted over, and flanged round the edges of, the head of each screw. A radial flange 30 on a cover-piece 29, closing the central aperture of the disc, is formed with an edge 31 turned round a flange 21 on the rib 19. Portions of the coverpiece 29 project along, and are bolted or riveted to, the inner side of the rib 19. A cap 36 fits on the piece 29 as shown in Fig. 7, and is held in place by a flanged retaining-piece 36<1> which fits over a flange on the cover-piece 29.
