Abstract
249,675. Chick, A. G., and Ordidge, F. H. March 24, 1925. Planes, construction of; steering and balancing. -An aeroplane or like aircraft having a vertical pin h extending forwardly from the rudder over a tail plane d which is pivoted about a transverse axis e towards its leading edge, has the rear edge k of the fin and the contiguous forward edge m of the rudder curved concentrically about the transverse axis e. The pin h is preferably carried by and rigidly braced to both spars of the plane d so as to move therewith. The plane d is moved by a screw shaft f which moves axially in a rotary nut g controlled by the pilot. The rudder has an extension j forward of its pivotal axis c. The invention may be used in conjunction with that described in Specification 217,031.
