Abstract

A door holder for securing a door on its edge comprises a plate C provided with a fixed face plate B and an adjustable face plate A, between which the door is clamped. The adjustable face plate may be locked in position using a quick release lever D. Preferably plate C is formed from aluminium, and is provided with stabilizers E, F.

Description
The Carpenters Door HolderO The door kidder is for use by Carpenters and people needing to hold a door firmly on its edge whir* it is prepared for hanging. The work needed hang a door indudes using a chisel to notch out a recess for the hinges, drilling and dhiselling to fit the handles and latches. This is when the door needs to be held fimnly on it's edge. See figures 1 & 2.
As far as we are aware there is no specific tool for kidder a door whilst this work is done. Common practice would seem to be to use a piece of 42 timber wffl a groove cut into one side.
The invention is comprised of an aluminium box or plate (C), with stabilisers (E&F) to ensure clearance on rough ground and to prevent wobble. A flat faced plate (B) is fixed at point approximately 20mm off centre, with a similar flat face plate (A) set opposite, which is adjustable. The movement is created using a slot in the main aluminium body (C).
The reason for one adjustable plate is firstly to allow a varying width of door and also so that the plate can be pushed dose to the door for a tight ft. The adjustable plate is locked into place using the quick release lever (D) on the side. Claim

Claims (1)

  1. The Carpenters Door Holder '2 The carpenters Door Hangers will secure a
    wooden door firmly on its edge to enable the nereccary work to be carried out for the door to be hung using a simple clamping and locking mechanism that can be operated whilst holding the door in position.
