Abstract

228,411. Porter, J. A. May 23, 1924. Handle - bars for cycles are mounted in one or more jaw clamps 7, 8 combined with a ball-race head 10 for the steering- column 13, the jaws 7 being made solid with or as an integral part of the head. The head 10 is split at 12 to provide an upper clamp 11 which is tightened about the column by a bolt and nut 14. The jaws 8 are pivoted upon a bolt 15 passed through the head 10 and are clamped over the handle-bar 4 by bolts 16; on slackening these bolts the handlebar can be turned to raise or lower the handles. The links of a spring fork may be attached to arms 5 at the front of the head 10.
