Abstract
222,410. Whittome, J. T. April 22, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Double and multiple hinges; hinges readily separable about hinge pins.-In casement windows, the sash b is hinged to the frame by means of an elongated member a of which one end is connected to a hinge plate on the sash and the other end is hinged to the frame, the latter hinge connection being disconnectible without the unfastening of any hinge elements such as bolts, pins, screws, or the like. The jamb end of the member a is provided with hollow bearing pins a<1> adapted to be slidably and detachably engaged by vertical pins d<1> on a hinge plate d attached to the frame. The opposite end of the member a is hinged to the casement by means of a bolt c. To allow the sash to be opened on the hinges a<1>, d' as an ordinary casement, the member a and the sash are held in contact by means such as a pivoted gravity catch a<3> on the sash engaging the elongated member at a<2> attached to the member a, the end e<1> of this catch being adapted to engage the opposite edge of the casement as shown in Fig. 5. When the sash is to be swung through 180‹ about its pivot c the holding means is disengaged.
