Abstract

Rope grips.-In wire ropeways having a stationary carrying rope 16, the traction rope 17 bears part of the load during the passage of the car over the supports of the rope 16, by making the clips movable in the vertical plane containing the traction rope axis, the clips being guided at right-angles to the track. The clip comprises a pair of arms 3, Fig, 1, carried by pivots 4 on the carriage 2 and pivoted at 8 to the other arm 7 which carries a roller 9 engaging a slot in a slide 10 carried by the carriage 2. The slide 10 is movable in vertical guides 11 and engages parts 5, of the carriage forming lower and upper stops. The clip is opened and closed by a roller 14. The clip may have a roller 19, Fig. 4, engaging a guide rail 20 to deflect the rope 17 from upper guide-rollers. The ropes 16, 17 may be level with each other and the clip jaws shaped to suit the rope rollers. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that in a modification. Fig. 6, the jaw 21 is rigidly fixed to a slide 22 while the other jaw 23 is actuated by a screw working in a threaded sleeve 24 turned by a lever 25 and weight 26. A spring 27 bears on the slide 22. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
