Abstract
717,916. Cable grips. GIOVANOLA FRERS SOC. ANON. Oct. 16, 1952, [Jan. 10. 1951.] No. 24131/51. Classes 78 (2) and 104 (2). A single cable aerial ropeway includes a carriage 6, which runs on wheels 5 carried by rails 37 provided at each station, and is provided with fixed jaw 8 and sliding jaw 13 to grip the driving rope 3. Sliding jaw 13 is carried rotatably by an extension 12 of slider i 1 sliding in guide 10-16 rotatable in carriage 6. The slider 11 carries trunnions 22; and guide 10-16 carries extension 16 through which slides load suspension rod 1 having upper arms 17 formed with slots 21, and the trunnions 22 slide in the slots 21 so as to actuate the sliding jaw 13. Rollers 19 journaled in extension 16 and engaging slots in upper arms 17 serve to facilitate the relative movement of arms 17 and extension 16. Suspension rod 1 carries roller 30 which, at the discharge stations, engages slope 36 to raise rod i and its slot 21 and so withdraw slider i 1 to the left to open the jaws and release the rope. At the same time the wheels 5'engage rails 37 to support the carriage. A locking device 27 may be provided which is spring-urged about shaft 26 carried by suspension rod so that arm 27 normally engages notches in the rod to prevent relative movement of rod and slider but, at the discharge station, is released by engagement of arm 40 with rail 39 so that the said rod is free to perform its sliding movement under the action of rail 36.
