Air-compressing devices, applications of; direct air-pressure apparatus, automatic. - In liquidraising apparatus of the kind employing the static pressure between two liquid levels 1, 2 and having two sets of apparatus each comprising an operating chamber A, or Ax arranged at or slightly below the upper liquid level, Fig. 4, and each connected by an air pipe B, B<x> to a closed container C, C<x> connected by a valved pipe c, c<x> to the liquid to be raised, one or more additional or upper containers F, F<x> are produced in each system, communicating by valved pipes f, f<x> with the lower containers C, C<x>, and the air pipe of each system communicates with the lower container of that system, so that the upper containers F, F<x> discharge alternately through pipes d, d<x> into the receiver D. A valve E, which may be automatically operated as described in Specification 217,654, connects the chambers A, A<x> alternately to the high and low level liquids 1, 2, so that they are alternately filled and emptied. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the upper container of one system is arranged above the lower container of the other system, and the connecting pipes f, f<x> cross each other. It is stated in the Provisional Specification that each system may have the air release device described in Specification 207,838.
