203,442. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., and Smith, H. P. June 27, 1922. Spray burners. - A spray burner comprises an oil pipe c carrying a spraying-plug e having an enlarged head f closely fitting the oil pipe and formed with a number of spaced grooves g which are skew relatively to the axis, of the pipe c. The oil passes through radial passages e<1> in the plug to the grooves and is atomized by steam or compressed air discharged from an annular chamber d in which the pipe c is adjustably mounted. Fig. 3 shows a spraying-plug having a coned head and Figs. 4 and 5 show spraying-plugs having cylindrical heads. The head may be set back from the end of the oil pipe c as shown in Fig. 4 or may be at the end of the oil pipe as shown in Fig. 5.
