Abstract

202,633. Soc. Montupet et Cie. Aug. 18, 1922, [Convention date]. Disc wheels; detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-In wheels of the kind comprising a hollow rim 1, hollow spokes 2 and hollow hub 3 cast in one piece, the base of the spokes is reinforced by radial webs 10 perpendicular to the plane of the wheel and cast therewith. The section of the spokes increases in its axial dimension from the rim to the hub as shown in Figs. 4, 5, and 6. The metal employed is preferably a light-metal such as aluminium, magnesium or their alloys. The alloys registered under the Trade Marks " Alpax '' and " Silunium " are stated to be suitable. The cavities in the hub, spokes and rim are in communication and holes are provided in the rim for allowing removal of the sand core used in the casting. The wheel may be mounted on a hub 6 by screws 8 engaging an interiorly threaded sleeve 7 secured in the hub 3.
