Abstract

201,652. Harding, A. J., and Harding, A. K. May 5, 1922. Hoods.-In a hood for charabancs &c. and comprising rigid members adapted to be supported in series above the vehicle or to be folded down upon each other when not in use, guides 1, Figs. 1 and 2, normally located close to the vehicle body, but adapted to be raised therefrom, support rigid members 4 pivotally and slidably associated with them. Each member 4 is secured to rollers 5, Fig. 5, accommodated in channel members attached to the guides 1. To fold the hood, cables 6<a> secured to the rear edge of each member 4 are pulled forwards to turn the members about the rollers 5 to a vertical position when they can be moved bodily rearwards by cables 8 secured to the leading edge of the front member and passing through eyelets 9 in the other members. The hood is housed in a recess 10 at the rear of the vehicle, a curved plate 11, which constitutes the rear of the hood, being adapted to slide down into a recess behind the recess 10. A pair of rods associated with the guides 1 may be clamped over the members 4 to prevent rattling when the hood is extended. In a modification, the members 4 are hinged to each other to fold up like a concertina. Specification 190,805 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
