Abstract

198,833. Enderby, G. H. March 25, 1922. Valves; valve-gear.-Four-stroke engines of the type having opposed pistons working in the same cylinder are provided with an internal rotary sleeve valve having ports midway along the cylinder for controlling inlet and exhaust, and also the ignition ports where such are used. The sleeve is driven by means of a worm-wheel, which may be secured to the sleeve by shear pins to prevent damage in the event of seizing of the sleeve. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention may be applied to two-stroke engines.
