Abstract

196,913. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. April 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Working-fluid supply.-In a steam turbine working with a high degree of superheat (steam temperature, above 375‹ C.) that part of the turbine which works with highly superheated steam (above 325‹ C.) has only rotors running normally at small peripheral speed (below 160 metres per second). This peripheral speed is based upon the strength of the rotor material at the temperature determined by the utilised heat drop. The first unit wih the small rotors may be an independent turbine driving its own dynamo, or it may be coupled through gearing to the main turbine, or it may be mounted on the same shaft as the main turbine. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3 (a), gives 350‹ and 300‹ C. respectively as the two temperature limits referred to above. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
