Abstract

Take-up motions. - A device for controlling the number of picks consists of gearing comprising wheels of different gear-ratios which can be coupled to give the number of picks required. As shown, a driving- member imparts intermittent rotation to a star-wheel 2 fast on a sleeve 3 which carries a number of gear-wheels 5 - - 9 and is loose on a shaft 4 geared to the take-up roller 41. The gear-wheels 5 - - 9 mesh with wheels 11 - - 16 loose on a sleeve 23 having also loosely mounted thereon wheels 17 - - 22 meshing with wheels 30 - - 35 fast on the shaft 4. Spring-controlled pawls 24, 25 pivoted in sliding members 26. 27 operated through toothed gearing by pointers 47, 48 are adapted to couple pairs of the wheels 11 - - 22 to the sleeve 23 to give the required gear-ratio between the star-wheel 2 and the take-up roller 41.
