S h a f t couplings; securing shaft couplings on shafts. - In shaft couplings, the shafts 10, 11 are encircled by the halves 1 of a divided sleeve, which are held together by cap-nuts 7 screwing on their reduced ends 3 and are secured on the shafts by wedges 12 thrust by the nuts 7 into tapered grooves 5 in the sleeve-parts. Preferably the grooves 5 do not extend to the middle of the coupling, and, in order to avoid binding of the nuts, they are each formed partially in the abutting faces of the sleeve-parts 1. The wedges may be of triangular cross-section or may have longitudinal serrations so that they bite into the shafts.
