Hubs.-In means for securing sleeves, such as the rear-axle hubs of motor - vehicles, on tubular shafts, two wedges c, d, in contact along their inclined faces c<1>, d<1>, are entered from opposite sides into slots a<1>, b<1> in the shaft a and sleeve b respectively and are caused to expand and bind therein by one or more bolts f passing freely through complementary grooves g in the wedges. In order to prevent the parts from falling out if excessive wear occurs, the bolt-head and an elastic washer h under the nut may be made larger than the width of the slots a<1>, b<1>. The shearing effort may be relieved by forming the slots a<1> somewhat narrower than the slots b<1>, so causing the shaft a to expand slightly and grip the sleeve b.
