Abstract
12,587. Taylor, C. D. Sept. 2. Feeding carding-engines &c.-In a hopper feeder for carding-engines and other fibrepreparing machines, a pair of travelling aprons 6, 7, or a pair of sets of rollers is arranged to form an upright V to act as a measuring- chamber. The fibrous material is knocked off the apron 3 by the beater 4 and falls over the guide 5 into the space between the aprons 6, 7. The material is kept at a constant level by the beater 9, which removes the surplus and passes it back to the apron 3. The material being under constant pressure emerges from the aprons 6, 7 in an even fleece, which is forwarded by the apron 8. The device may be applied to the delivery end of preparing-machines such as openers.
