Vacuum cleaning-apparatus. - The vacuum cleaner shown in Fig. 2 comprises a centrifugal fan 5 driven by an electric motor 8 and mounted centrally on the top of a gravity settling-chamber 1, a screen 14 of coarse mesh being interposed between the inlet opening 10 for the dust-laden air and the inlet opening of the fan casing. A defecting - plate 13 is fitted to the opening 10. The side walls of the fan impeller converge as shown, the crosssectional area of the space between them being practically constant from the inlet opening to the peripheral outlet opening.
