Abstract

1,036,707. Suction cleaning apparatus. A. S. FISKER & NIELSON. April 8; 1964 [Oct. 1, 1963], No. 14471/64. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F1] A suction unit, particularly for a suction apparatus for removing cleaning water from floors, comprises two stationary annular plates 15, 16 located between the suction fan 9, 10 and its drive motor 4, 5 and defining an annular diffuser into which extends a disc 20 secured to the motor shaft 8 to define with the plate 15 a convergent annular nozzle 24. In the suction apparatus for cleaning water illustrated the suction unit is mounted at the upper end of a water collecting container 1, and has a housing 2 provided with an inlet 13 communicating with the container 1. Air is drawn primarily by the fan 9, 10 through the inlet 13 and discharged through the nozzle 24, the diffuser 15, 16, apertures 22 in an intermediate wall 23 and slots 14 in the housing 2; and this primary air flow draws into and through the diffuser 15, 16 a secondary air flow through inlet slots 18 in the housing 2, and over the motor 4, 5 to cool the latter. The suction unit may alternatively be used in a pneumatic conveyer for pulverulent or granular materials, or as a ventilation unit.
