Abstract

3451. Wade, H., [Morton, A. H.]. Feb. 10. Rollers and roller heads.-Balanced weighting-arrangements for the drawing-rollers of spinning-frames comprise a weighted lever 15, which weights the top saddle and presses upwards at its fulcrum 18 against a movable block 24 which carries the bottom roller, these parts being arranged alternately or otherwise with similar unbalanced arrangements wherein the fulcrum 18 bears against a fixed part of the frame. The lever 15 acts on the top rollers by means of a stirrup 10, an adjustable nut 17, and saddles 5, 9, so arranged that the ratio of the pressures applied to the front, middle, and back rollers is as 4:1:2. The saddle 5 is provided with a groove, to receive a wick for lubricating the bearings of the rollers.
