' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' RING-SPINNING FRAME AND OTHER SPINNING MACHINE.
Application filed December 26, 1924. Serial No. 758,296.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT TAYLOR, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Soho Iron Works, Oldham, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Ring-Spinning Frames and Other Spinning Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in or relating to ring spinning frames and other spinning machines such as flyer frames, mules and the like and has for its object to provide an improved arrangement of cap bar fingers and rollers capable of producing a high draft.
For this purpose the top back and middle draft rollers upon the roller stand are divided or replaced by two rollers or the middle roller only is replaced by two rollers, the inner ends of the two rollers thus formed in each. case being mounted. in a middle finger having suitable bearings therein in which said rollers are journalled.
In the accompanying drawings Figure I is an end elevation of the roller stand of a ring or other spinning frame or machine constructed according to the pres ent invention.
Figure 2 is a plan thereof.
Figure 3 is a section of a modified arrangement of rollers and fingers and Figure a is a plan thereof.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2 of said drawings, 1 represents the roller stand mounted upon the frame 2 of the frame or machine, 3 represents the front roller supported in the bearings S and upon which rests the weighted roller l.
Supported by the brackets 5 are the middie roller 6 and the back roller 7 mounted in the bearings 6 and 7, and supported by fingers 8 and a middle finger 9 fixed upon the bar 1 and having bearings 8 and 9 respectively are the top middle rollers 10 and the heavy back roller 11, the usual top middle and back rollers being divided as shown in Figure 2.
In Figures 3 and 4 is shown an alternative arrangement of the rollers, the top middle rollers 10 are divided as above described, the heavy back roller 11 being retained in one piece as heretofore whilst in order to support the inner journals of the top middle rollers 10 the middle finger 9 is cranked as shown in order to clear the back rollers 7 and 11, though if desired said middle finger 9 might be cranked above the back roller 11 instead of beneath the same.
By the latter construction illustrated in Figures 3 and 4 an existing frame or machine may be converted without altering the existing back top roller thereby saving expense.
It will be understood that the details of construction of the device may be modified without departing from the principle of the invention.
IVhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a ring or other spinning frame or machine, a pair of end roller supporting fingers, top middle and top back rollers, in two parts, said middle rollers being axially aligned and said back rollers being axially aligned, a finger mounted upon the bar intermediate of the end fingers, bearings in said intermediate finger to support the inner ends of the shafts of said axially aligned rollers.
2. In a ring or other spinning frame or machine, a pair of end rollers supporting fingers, top middle rollers in two parts and axially aligned, a finger mounted on the bar intermediate the usual roller supporting fingers, bearings in said finger to sup port said top middle rollers at their inner ends, said finger being cranked to pass below the top and bottom back rollers.
In testimony whereof I have" signed my name to this specification.
ROBERT TAYLOR.
