Sound of discharge, modifying. - Relates to silencers, particularly for rifles, and consists in a longitudinally-grooved sleeve d, with in-turned end h, which sleeve is fitted over the gun muzzle b as shown, and is secured by means of a detachable piece at the rear of the sight c. The grooves e extend to the rear end of the sleeve and open to the atmosphere through radial ports f. The gases expand into the chamber g, and escape rearwardly along the gun muzzle through the grooves e and ports f.
