Abstract

28,480. Bull, F. S. Dec. 7. Angular bending; bending-formers.-In bending the plates of laminated springs for road vehicles &c. by an apparatus similar to that described in Specification 5152/96, the plates are bent, both halves in one operation, on separate camber blocks so as to avoid the necessity of any subsequent hammering before the plates are assembled. The camber blocks n are adjustably secured to a table by bolts p, and the plates j are bent by rollers k on arms g, which are pivoted on a block c adjusted by a screw c. The rollers are mounted in slides l, which are pressed against the work by springs, and are carried in boxes i adjustable in slots h in the arms. The pressure of the rollers is adjusted by the screw c. A single plate may be bent on any of the blocks separately.
