Atmospheric gas burners. - Air to be supplied to lighting and heating apparatus is compressed by apparatus driven by mercury vapour generated by the heat from the burner. The mercury is contained in a vessel d above the burner, and its vapour may drive a turbine f, on the shaft of which is mounted a fan g. The condensed mercury returns to the vessel d through a pipe c, or may be raised by a pump, also driven by the turbine f, to a reservoir, whence it returns to the vessel d through a thermostatic valve. In another form, the air is compressed by an injector.
