Pumping - machines ; casings, centrifugalpump.-A rotary pump and its driving-motor are mounted on a standard so as to maintain alinement of the separate shafts, and facilitate dismantling when required. The pump shaft j and driving-turbine shaft a are connected by gearing o, f, and are carried in suspension bearings n, m. Each shaft has a steady-bearing h, b adjacent to the suspension bearing, and another steady-bearing k, c adjacent to the gear-box. Additional bearings may be provided, such as the bearing 10 for the pump shaft, and the bearings 8, 9 for the turbine. All of the bearings &c. are carried by a standard s on the pump-casing p. To facilitate removal of the shafts independently, the bearings, boxes, &c. are split longitudinally so that, on removal of one side, the shaft can be taken out. The covers 6, 7 of the pump casing are removable to allow the impeller to come out. According to the Provisional Specification, two intermediate gear-wheels may be arranged to mesh with the wheel f in order to balance the pressures thereon.
