Abstract

11,932. Sherkel, F. June 8, 1909, [Convention date]. Hooks, spring.- A snap hook is held in both open and closed positions by a spring- actuated dog. The hook 14 and dog 24 are pivoted between two side plates 7, which are connected by an integral end piece 8 and a bar 9. In the open position shown in Fig. 3, the spring 18, which is in compression, holds the surfaces 21, 30 together and keeps the hook open. When an object is inserted in the hook and pressed in the direction of the eye 10, the book and dog turn on their pivots, the bill 16 comes against the bar 9, and the surface 29 on the dog engages a concavity 20 on the hook, in which it is retained by the spring 18. The hook is opened by pressing towards one another two finger-pieces 11, 22.
