Blast apparatus, ejector.-In a locomotive blast-apparatus, an extension 28 of the chimney having the same taper, is mounted within the smoke-box and has a bell-mouth or petticoat 34. The internal bores of the two blast nozzles 15, 15<1>, Fig. 5, taper upwards and incline towards each other sufficiently to set their adjacent walls parallel. The lower part of each nozzle is bored to such an angle as to form a crest 53 extending completely round the nozzle from the outer edge of its base. The nozzles are removably secured in place by bolts 48 and washers resting on their edges. In a modification, the petticoat 34 merges by a curve into the extension 28.
